How We Quote and Build
Four steps, and the important one is the part nobody sees once the job is finished.
1. You send photos
Photos of the area from a few angles, plus rough dimensions if you have them. For most driveway, patio and repair work that is genuinely enough to price the job.
It saves you an appointment and it saves us a truck roll, which is part of why we can quote competitively. Where a job needs seeing, particularly anything involving water, we will say so and arrange to come out.
2. We look at the whole picture
Surface, base and drainage together. Most quotes in this trade cover only the first of those, which is why so many driveways get paid for twice.
If the photos show water running somewhere it should not, we will raise it even though it makes our quote larger and harder to win. Quoting a surface over an unresolved water problem is selling someone a repeat job.
3. You get a real number
A written figure for a defined scope, with what is included stated. Base depth, material, thickness, what happens to the old surface, and whether drainage work is part of it.
If we think you need less work than you asked about, we will tell you. A repair that holds is better business for us than a replacement you did not need and would resent paying for.
4. We build it to the specification quoted
Excavation to depth, base built and compacted properly, grade set so water leaves the surface, then the surface itself. The base is where the life of the job is decided, and it is the easiest place to quietly save money at your expense.
If we open something up and find conditions worse than expected, we stop and talk to you before continuing rather than presenting a surprise at the end.
What we will not do
Pave over a failed base, seal a driveway to hide cracks that need filling, or quote a full replacement on a driveway that needs a repair. All three are easy money and all three come back.
Questions about how we work
Can you really quote from photos?
For most driveway, patio and repair work, yes. Photos from a few angles plus rough dimensions give us enough to price the work properly rather than quote a range.
Drainage is the exception more often than not. Water problems usually need seeing, because the cause is frequently somewhere other than where the water shows up.
What if the job turns out to be different once you start?
It happens, most often when we open up a surface and find the base is worse than the photos suggested. When it does, we stop and tell you what we found and what it changes before doing the work.
What we do not do is carry on and present a larger bill at the end.
Do you subcontract the work?
Ask us on your specific job and we will tell you straight. Some specialised elements are worth bringing in a specialist for, and pretending otherwise would not serve you.
What matters is that you know who is going to be on your property before they arrive.
